The Civil War Preservation Trust is America's largest nonprofit organization devoted to the preservation of our nation's endangered Civil War battlefield lands.  The Trust provides grants to purchase endangered battlefields or conservation easements on those battlefields.

Historic Preservation Fund was established in 1966 for states, tribes, and local governments to use for activities such as education, preparation of National Register nominations, and
development of comprehensive preservation plans. The HPF receives annual appropriations from Congress, and this federal money is matched by state dollars. The fund is administered in a partnership between the National Park Service and the states through State Historic

Federal 20% Rehabilitation Tax Credit- Tennessee Historical Commission administers this
program from the federal government. See program explanation under "National Park
