Tennessee Preservation Trust Statewide Preservation Conference to Connect Preservationists from Around the State

Germantown to host this year’s 3-day conference, with sessions focusing on traditional & nontraditional preservation issues, historical tours and Tennessee’s place in the Trail of Tears

The Tennessee Preservation Trust’s Statewide Preservation Conference will bring together heritage supporters and preservationist from across the state of Tennessee. The event will feature education sessions, tours and a special address form Award winning writer and filmmaker Willy B. Bearden, who has written extensively about Blues Music, Elvis Presley and Southern culture.

Memphis is home to one of TPT’s Ten in TN, its annual list of the most endangered historic properties in the state. The 19th Century Club (1433 Union Avenue), was built c. 1909 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The 19th Century Club represents one of Memphis’ finest historic homes. The Colonial revival style mansion reflects its original floor plan and is one of the few mansions left on Union Avenue from this time period. It was nominated to and listed on the 2013 Ten for Tenn due to
development plans that called for its demolition.
