Historic Theaters in Tennessee:

Tivoli Theater, Chattanooga, TN
Tennessee is home to numerous historic theaters in all three grand divisions. The architectural styles of these theaters range from Italian Renaissance to Neo-Classical to Art Deco. Many of Tennessee’s historic theaters are on the National Register of Historic Places. The theaters still standing are a testament to the state’s love of the art and beauty of cinema, but many have been lost through the years. Some have been repurposed for use as churches or visitors centers, and all have a significance within their communities. Preservation of these theaters is essential to promoting the cultural, historical, and economic appeal of the state and its counties and cities.
