TPT Annual Conference

The 2004 State Preservation Conference:
"Preserving Local Character: Neighborhoods, Town, and Country"

The Tennessee Preservation Trust will celebrate five years of successful preservation education and advocacy efforts with the 2004 Statewide Preservation Conference in Nashville on April 15-17, 2004. This year's agenda will focus on the reuse of historic buildings and neighborhoods to energize our communities and help create vibrant places to work and live. Nashville's historic neighborhoods and downtown buildings will be spotlighted during the conference sessions, which will be based at the National Register-listed Union Station Hotel.

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Thomas Hylton will serve as the keynote speaker, and Tennessee's First Lady Andrea Conte will report on the restoration of the Governor's Mansion. Other nationally-known speakers and regional experts will join Tennessee preservationists from non-profit organizations, state and local governments, and civic groups for a day and a half of educational sessions, optional tours and workshops, and a special lecture and reception with members of Nashville's Urban Design Forum. An elegant silent auction and reception in the historic Union Station Hotel will cap Friday's activities. To request an application, contact the TPT office at (615) 259-2289 or e-mail us at TPT@tennesseepreservationtrust.org
