Board Members and Staff of the TPT

Since its inception, TPT has focused on maintaining a strong and diverse board of directors.  TPT's board represents the cultural and geographic diversity of the state. Its members come from large cities and small towns, and from a variety of professions and perspectives that bring a wealth of talent and experience to the organization.  Members of the board of directors have been involved in a wide range of local, regional, and national preservation efforts.  Patrick McIntyre joined TPT as the first executive director in July of 2002.   In August, 2003, the Center for Historic Preservation at MTSU established a collaborative assistantship program with TPT, and graduate student David Price served as staff intern for the 2003-2004 academic year. Bud Alley, a master's candidate in the public history program at MTSU, began his internship from the Center to TPT in January 2006 and was later hired as administrative staff. On July 2, 2007, Dan Brown became TPT's second executive director.  Paul Hoffman, a master's candidate in the public history program at MTSU, joined TPT in August as the administrative asssistant.

As a statewide organization, TPT strives to have a presence in all areas of Tennessee. Annual meetings, conferences, and award programs rotate between the three grand divisions.  Board meetings are held in all areas of the state, often with a board member or local preservation organization serving as the event host.  On September 17, 2004, TPT board member Mai Dee Hendricks, along with TPT member Lynn Hulan, arranged a board meeting at the historic Fly Building and then treated the board to a tour of the ongoing revitalization of the courthouse square and a reception at the James Gilliland House Museum.
